Moving Volume Calculator
Estimate total furniture volume and recommended truck size.
How does the moving volume calculator work?
This calculator estimates the total volume of your household goods by adding up standard moving boxes and larger furniture items. Each standard box is considered to occupy about 0.1 cubic meters (m³). You enter the number of boxes and the estimated volume of your furniture (sofas, beds, wardrobes, etc.) in cubic meters. The tool sums everything and recommends a suitable truck size based on the total volume — small van, medium truck, large truck, or extra‑large truck.
How to use the Moving Volume Calculator
Count the number of standard moving boxes you have (or plan to have). Estimate the volume of your larger furniture items by measuring approximate dimensions (length × width × height in meters) and summing them. Enter both values and click "Calculate" to see the total volume and the recommended truck category.
Example calculation
10 standard boxes (10 × 0.1 = 1 m³) plus a sofa (1.5 m³), a bed (0.8 m³), and a wardrobe (1.2 m³) gives a total furniture volume of 3.5 m³. Total: 1 + 3.5 = 4.5 m³. This fits into a small van (up to 10 m³). The calculator instantly identifies the right truck size for any combination.
Frequently Asked Questions
How do I estimate furniture volume?
Measure the approximate length, width, and height of each large item in meters and multiply them (L×W×H) to get the volume in m³. Sum the volumes of all furniture items. Don't worry about exact precision — the calculator's truck recommendations include a comfortable margin.
What if my total is between truck sizes?
The calculator recommends the smallest truck that can accommodate your total volume. However, if your volume is very close to the upper limit of a category, consider choosing the next size up to avoid overpacking and allow for easier loading and unloading.
