GPA Calculator

Calculate your weighted grade point average (GPA).

What is a GPA calculator and how does it work?

Grade Point Average (GPA) is a weighted average of your course grades, where each grade corresponds to a numeric value (A = 4.0, B = 3.0, etc.) and is multiplied by the course credit hours. The calculator sums all the grade points (grade value × credits) and divides by the total number of credits. It's the standard method used by universities to measure academic performance across semesters.

How to use the GPA Calculator

Click "+ Add course" to add a row for each course. Enter the course name, select the letter grade you received (or expect), and enter the number of credits for that course. Add as many courses as you need, then click "Calculate GPA" to see your weighted GPA. Use "Remove" to delete any row and adjust your list.

Example calculation

Course A: Grade A (4.0), Credits 3 → 12 grade points. Course B: Grade B+ (3.3), Credits 4 → 13.2 grade points. Course C: Grade C (2.0), Credits 3 → 6 grade points. Total grade points = 31.2, Total credits = 10. GPA = 31.2 ÷ 10 = 3.12. The calculator performs this instantly for any number of courses.

Frequently Asked Questions

What grading scale does this calculator use?

It uses the standard 4.0 scale with plus/minus modifiers: A = 4.0, A- = 3.7, B+ = 3.3, B = 3.0, B- = 2.7, C+ = 2.3, C = 2.0, C- = 1.7, D+ = 1.3, D = 1.0, F = 0.0. If your school uses a different scale, adapt the grade values accordingly.

Can I calculate my cumulative GPA?

Yes — enter all courses from all semesters you want to include. The calculator treats them as one pool and gives you the overall weighted GPA. For term-by-term tracking, calculate each semester separately.
