Calorie Calculator

Daily energy expenditure and weight goals.

What is a calorie calculator and how does it work?

A calorie calculator estimates your daily energy needs based on your gender, age, height, weight, and activity level. It first calculates your Basal Metabolic Rate (BMR) — the calories you burn at complete rest — using the Mifflin‑St Jeor equation. Then it multiplies BMR by your activity factor to get your Total Daily Energy Expenditure (TDEE), or how many calories you actually burn each day.

How to use the Calorie Calculator

Select your gender, enter your age, height (cm), and weight (kg), then choose your activity level from the dropdown — from sedentary to super active. Click "Calculate" to instantly see both your BMR and TDEE in kcal per day. Use these numbers to plan your nutrition for weight loss, maintenance, or muscle gain.

Example calculation

A 30‑year‑old female, 165 cm tall, weighing 60 kg, with moderate activity (3–5 days/week), has a BMR of approximately 1,321 kcal/day and a TDEE of about 2,048 kcal/day. That TDEE is the estimated daily calorie intake needed to maintain her current weight.

Frequently Asked Questions

What is the difference between BMR and TDEE?

BMR is the calories you burn at total rest — just keeping your body alive. TDEE includes BMR plus the energy spent on all daily activities and exercise. TDEE is the number to use when planning your diet.

How accurate is this calculator?

The Mifflin‑St Jeor formula is considered one of the most accurate BMR equations for the general population. Individual results may vary based on muscle mass, metabolism, and other factors, but it provides a reliable starting point.
